Bonkers
Spingle, spangle, spongle, spoo!
Last night I thought (and so did you).
In our bedroom, dark and warm,
'Tree!' I breathed - or was it dawn?
Dibble, dribble, ibble, po!
'Teeth', I murmured (you said 'go').
In our bathroom, clean and cool
'Buns' I whispered, I'm no fool.
Bandage, bandage, one, two, three -
I know the silence here is me,
but in our hallway, out of sight,
you stand phoning in the night.
Damage, damage, hell on earth,
I've a secret but no worth
for up the garden path they roam
'Parcels, parcels,' I intone.
Hellish, hellish, four, five, six
As they bind me, conscience pricks
'The secret's out' I whimper small
(from in the jacket that fits all)
Bastard, bastard, seven, eight, nine -
I can tell I'm out of time.
'Doctor! Doctor! D'you hear me?
I guess I'm coming quietly'.
